Christmas Brunch Hamper special offer

Growing up I remember my mum being ever so slightly bah-humbug about Christmas. Don’t get me wrong – she made our Christmases very special – but there was something in her eyes that told me she wasn’t quite as enthusiastic as we were.

Now I get it. Since having kids Christmas has become a bit of a – dare I say it – chore.

Day to day I can just about keep my head above water in this mad juggle of work and motherhood. But when something out of the ordinary comes along, it tips the balance.

Christmas is a pretty significant tipping point. Presents to buy, extra admin at school, cards to write (or make if you dare), house to decorate, Christmas dinner to plan, family gatherings to organise. Work nights out. Some of it fun, yes. But the chaos of it all, bloody exhausting.

For the past couple of years, the build up to Christmas has felt like a marathon. Shattered, I fall at the final hurdle. Usually getting poorly between Christmas and New Year.

So, it got me thinking. All these extra jobs. All the stuff taking up our already cluttered heads. Us parents (dare I say it, MOTHERS – as we’re often the present buyers at Christmas) need a treat.

And as I packed my shoe box of pressies for Operation Christmas Child (have you heard about this?), I thought to myself I’d quite like to pack a box for some of my mum friends. Especially one of my best friends who has four children (including 18-month-old twins) and probably feels like running for the hills right now.

I’m in no way comparing tired mums to the children receiving the Samaritan Purse’s boxes. But I do think mums deserve an extra special treat this time of year.

So I got in touch with an old friend, Charlie Hanks, whose company Artisan Provender makes the most beautiful hampers, and she kindly agreed to give away one of her gorgeous Christmas Brunch Hampers.

It contains these fabulous goodies from some of the finest farmers and producers across Britain:

Forman’s Original London Cure Smoked Salmon
From the world’s oldest smokery

Spoon Pecan and Cinnamon Granola
Giving everyone a good reason to jump out of bed in the morning

South Devon Chilli Farm Orange Chilli Chocolate
Mind-blowing combo of Belgian chocolate, chillies and orange oil

Radnor Preserves A Smoky Campfire Marmalade
Heaven with sausages, cheese, and bacon

Tregothnan Classic Tea
The first tea grown in England

Climpson & Sons ‘The Baron’ Espresso Blend
A mighty fine Brazilian blend from our favorite East London coffee gurus

Yearlstone Vintage Brut Sparkling Wine
Delicious bubbles from a small family-run vineyard in Devon

What a way to start Christmas day! The Artisan Provender Christmas Brunch hamper is worth £64.90.

All you need to do is nominate a mum to win it on Mumsnet Exeter’s forum or Facebook page.

The competition closes on 24 NOVEMBER at NOON – so the chances are you may have missed the boat. But don’t panic because Artisan Provender has given you a 10% discount. A lot of it’s from the West Country too, which is really good to see.

What do you think?
